“Self-Portrait.” 2025

People think that self-portraits have to look exactly like the person physically; however, I think this is a shallow take. Self-portraits are designed to capture the person, their essence, and their values; even if that portrait does look like them physically, it represents their soul. With my self-portrait, I feel it captures how much of a whirlwind I often find myself in. These whirlwinds, such as struggles and insecurities, have hurt and crumbled me; however,  I am not solely defined by that. I try to find beauty past these whirlwinds and find beauty in imperfections
